Class-In your practice, which of Carper’s Patterns of Knowing are most prevalent? Why?
Nursing knowledge is classified in a variety of ways, one of which is Carper’s Patterns of Knowing (Carper, 1978). Carper’s framework offers a lens through which the nurse can reflect upon insights acquired through empirical, ethical, personal, and aesthetic knowledge (Carper, 1978). Through intentional reflection using Carper’s Patterns of Knowing, nurses can process experiential learning and knowledge acquired through practice. The purpose of this assignment is to reflect upon a specific practice situation and better understand the professional knowledge and insights obtained through that experience.
Define/explain the concept using scholarly literature (a dictionary maybe used for this section only.
Explain how the concept applies to the selected nursing theory.
What role do nurses have in selecting and evaluating information systems within your work environment? What strategies facilitated implementation of the information system and/or what were the barriers to implementation?
State the aims of the reflective commentary and development plan.
In your reflection discuss what support and feedback will be needed to develop the selected aspect of personal effectiveness (MLO 1)
Use the template provided to write a development plan that details how you will improve on the aspect of personal effectiveness discussed in the commentary (MLO
3). Conclusion (150 words)
Summarise the key issues in your reflective commentary and development plan.
Identify implications for future reflective practice and personal development.
EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE AND APPLIED NURSING RESEARCH
Discuss the impact of a clinical practice problem on the patient(s) and the organization it affects.
Identify the following PICO components of the clinical practice problem:
• patient/population/problem (P)
• intervention (I)
• comparison (C)
• outcome (O)
Discuss the background or introduction (i.e., the purpose) of the research article.
Describe the research methodology.
Identify the level of evidence using the Johns Hopkins Nursing Evidence-Based Practice (JHNEBP) model.
Discuss the background or introduction (i.e., the purpose) of the non-research article.
Describe the type of evidence (e.g., case study, quality improvement project, clinical practice guideline).
Identify the level of evidence using the JHNEBP model.
Explain how you would involve three key stakeholders in supporting the practice change recommendation.
Discuss one specific barrier you may encounter when implementing the practice change recommendation.
Identify one strategy that could be used to overcome the barrier discussed in part D2.
Identify one outcome (the O component in PICO) from your EBP question to measure the recommended practice change.
Explore pathology of toxic stress levels and scales used to measure it
Complete the Stress Management scale located in the course module and provide a summary of findings
Identify an intervention useful for stress management: journal, exercise (be specific i.e. running, walking, swimming), meditation, music therapy, equine therapy etc.
Research the intervention selected and cite evidence of effectiveness providing cultural considerations that may impact success of the intervention
Outline motivational techniques used to develop an effective stress management plan
Define the patient, family, or population health problem that will be the focus of your capstone project. Assess the problem from a leadership, collaboration, communication, change management, and policy perspective and establish your evidence and research base to plan, implement, and share findings related to your project.
Are the boundaries geographical, political, or economic?
Do neighborhoods have names? Are there sub-communities?
How are these identified? Commercial or residential? Is the community identified by name?
What is the age of the buildings? Are the residences single family or multifamily dwellings? Approximate age, type of architecture, construction materials
Critical appraisal of body of literature
Critically analyse your chosen papers, concentrating on their strengths and weaknesses, and using an appropriate JBI tools (JBI ones are recommended but others are available).
Where does it fit in a hierarchy of evidence?
What are the implications for practice?
