Movie Critique Paper

Human services professionals violating many of the established codes of ethical conduct. For many beginning helping professionals, these movies can lead them into thinking that the behavior demonstrated on film is accepted and appropriate. In addition, future clients also watch these movies and this is where they get many of their ideas about professional helpers.

Directions:

Choose ONE movies from the following list:

Prime (PG-13, 2005) (Meryl Streep and Uma Thurman)

Good Will Hunting (R, 1998) (Robin Williams and Matt Damon)

Watch the movie and identify at least five (5) ethical violations. Use both the NASW and NOHS code of ethics to determine what ethical violations have been committed.

Explain each ethical violation and state which NASW and/or NOHS code of ethics have been violated.

It is recommended that you read through both the NASW and NOHS codes before you watch the movie. Have the codes handy during the film so that you can keep track of the ethical violations.

The papers will be typed, double-spaced with a font no larger than 12. Each paper will be between 3-5 pages.
