Journal club presentation – MicroRNA-19a contributes to the epigenetic regulation of tissue factor in diabetes By Marco Witkowski, Termeh Tabaraie, […], and Ursula Rauch
1. Demonstrate an understanding of a number of aspects of biotechnology and apply knowledge to problem based scenarios.
2. Critically analyse and synthesise scientific information in the subject area of biotechnology and articulate and present this effectively, through written, oral and digital formats, to a diverse and global audience.
You will be randomly allocated a scientific paper, via Aula. You will prepare and deliver a minimum 20 minute (plus 5 minute questions) presentation on this Biotechnology-related journal article, to be presented as an individual.
You should attempt to explain the paper, including techniques used, to the audience, and be ready to answer detailed questions on the content of the paper.
You are required to submit an electronic copy of your presentation, at least 24 hours before the oral presentation takes place, through the TurnItInUK link on the 7024BMS Moodle web-page (under the assessment tab).
You will also be required to give your oral presentation in person, and to answer questions on it.
Explain the background briefly, and then to focus on the specific research question addressed by the paper, and particularly on the techniques used and the details of the data generated, followed by a discussion of the significance and implications of the findings.
The times, rooms and dates for the presentations will be communicated via Aula.
Convert your final submission to a PDF format as these suffer less from formatting changes.
remember that submission can take time to complete, and therefore ensure you do this early.
The TurnitinUK system will record the date and time of your submission and cannot be over-written.
Ensure that the presentation you give in person is identical to the one that you submit through TurnItInUK.
