Are we headed for a future in which morality is thrown out the window, with every consumer’s AV working to protect their passengers’ interests regardless of who outside the car is hurt?
Should consumers be given an “ethical knob” ([10]; [24]) to dial in the moral settings of how their AV should respond in life-and-death situations, especially if it is known that consumers tend to dial the knob to an antisocial rather than prosocial setting?
