What projects are they currently working on that are related to public health, epidemiology, disease outbreaks, or healthcare-acquired infections?

In your Signature Assignment for this class, you will apply your learning by building a relationship with a healthcare organization of your choice.

You will choose an organization, meet someone who works there, and assist her or him with a public health-related project that is relevant to your learning in PH 560.

Review the full description of the Signature Assignment download for this course.

For this week's discussion, list three

(3) different organizations you would like to do your project on. Why did you choose them?
Review the organizations’ websites and try to make contact with someone at the organization.

What projects are they currently working on that are related to public health, epidemiology, disease outbreaks, or healthcare-acquired infections?

Respond to at least two

(2) of your classmates’ or your instructor’s posts. Comment on the organizations they chose.

Which organizations do you think are the best options and why?

Which factors contribute to this statistic? Are there differences between healthcare “needs” and “wants” in this population? How could you close this gap?

Prompt 1: It is often stated that excess mortality is higher in low socioeconomic populations.

Visit the Kaiser Family Foundation and read about the reasons behind these disparities (http://kff.org/disparities-policy/issue-brief/disparities-in-health-and-health-care-five-key-questions-and-answers/ (Links to an external site.)).

Discuss the major points of the law. Then, analyze the facts of the hypothetical situation against that law to explain how the employee broke the law.

This week, you learned that health care is an extremely regulated industry mostly because of the especially vulnerable nature of its customers: the patients.

Legislators have created numerous laws to control everything from the process of insurance to how a patient must be treated and what they must be told by medical personnel.

Individuals who break these laws can be subject to civil or criminal liability, so it is extremely important that every healthcare worker knows and understands the laws related to his or her job.

For this discussion prompt, you will use the St. Martha’s General Hospital Scenario.

After reviewing that scenario and reviewing the laws that you learned this week,  discuss a healthcare law that may have been broken by an employee of St. Martha’s General Hospital. Identify any scenario where the law has been broken.

Discuss the major points of the law. Then, analyze the facts of the hypothetical situation against that law to explain how the employee broke the law.

Support your ideas with evidence from your readings.

Identify a theory that uses a concept of interest to you that can be applied in research and nursing practice (clinical, education, or administration).

Nursing theory

Identify a theory that uses a concept of interest to you that can be applied in research and nursing practice (clinical, education, or administration).

This is a professional paper in which headings, full sentences, paragraphs, correct grammar and punctuation, and correct citation of sources are required.

The theory you select will be the same theory used for each assignment in the future modules.

Theory Description:
Provide a brief description of the theory using an original source or as close to the original source as possible.

Include a brief discussion of the origins of the theory and the scope/level (grand, middle range, practice/situation specific) of the theory.

Identify the major concepts of the theory and discuss how they are related (propositions). Pick two of the concepts, including your concept of interest, and state theoretical definitions of these concepts.

Style & Format:

The paper will be written using APA standards. The paper will include a title page (using specified format), 2-3 pages of text, and a reference

list. It will be double-spaced, written in 12-point Times New Roman font, and have 1-inch margins. Up to 0.5 points will be deducted for each type of grammar, spelling, punctuation, or format error.

Submission Instructions:

Only primary sources and empirical research articles are to be used for this assignment. Secondary sources such as, textbooks, literature reviews, systematic reviews, dissertations and concept analyses are NOT to be used.

Explain how the company uses the total cost approach to coordinate the selected logistics activities in a cost-efficient manner. Identify the tools and/or methods (as described in Chapter 4 of your textbook) that the company uses to measure the quality of its logistics performance.

Connecting Logistics and Financial Performance

You will play the role of a logistics analyst who is creating a report on the contributions of logistics activities to a company’s overall business performance.

Select any publicly traded company. Research this company’s website and relevant business documentation to evaluate the company’s performance and profit models, such as inventory turnover, return on assets, or other models that the company uses to measure its performance. Possible sources of information include the company’s annual report, income statement, or other financial documents that report the company’s revenues, expenses, and profits.

These are usually published on the company’s Investor Relations page on their website.

Identify two logistics-related activities the company utilizes to achieve its business goals. You may select, for example, the company’s inventory management system, warehousing operations, order management, transportation management, international logistics, or any other activities.

Your 200-250 word post must include the following:

Name the company that you chose and identify and describe the two logistics activities you selected that support the company’s supply chain and business strategies.

Explain how the company uses the total cost approach to coordinate the selected logistics activities in a cost-efficient manner.

Identify the tools and/or methods (as described in Chapter 4 of your textbook) that the company uses to measure the quality of its logistics performance.

Describe one tool/method, and briefly explain what it measures and how it works.
Support your report with credible sources, citing from the company’s websites, business publications or articles, and assigned readings from this week. Reference them in your discussion post in proper APA style
