Description

This Discussion Board will provide you and your classmates with a basic description and work breakdown structure for your chosen company. To complete the thread, you must meet all of the following criteria:

1. Provide a brief background of your chosen company (name, locations, etc.);

2. Develop an initial Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) in Microsoft Project for your Capstone Project. After your WBS has been created, briefly discuss how you have incorporated the appropriate time needed for the activities listed in order to steward the time for the project accordingly.

Explain how a biblical point of view of stewardship with time will ensure minimization of cost; and

3. Develop an initial cost estimation in Microsoft Project for your Capstone Project.

Process Improvement

Select a company (Apple) with which you are familiar, preferably one where you have been employed, and consider a process within Apple that could be improved.

This could be a business process, a manufacturing process, a distribution process, or a service process that you have observed or been involved with during your career.

Your paper should

1. Describe Apple and how the selected process fits into the overall framework of the company.

2. Create a step-by-step description of the current process incorporating a process flow chart.

3. Analyze the current process for inefficiencies.

4. Develop a process improvement recommendation including a detailed plan incorporating business process engineering theory and including benchmarking the reengineered process to a close business competitor. The process should be designed to be more efficient, using appropriate tools and methods learned throughout the course, including capacity utilization improvements and statistical quality control models.

5. Explain possible challenges in implementing the process changes.

6. Assess the expected benefits of the improved process and the potential benefits.

Since 1990, the U.S. government has published 10-year national objectives for improving the health of Americans. A select group of 26 objectives is monitored periodically and published on the Healthy People website.

How long the text should be:

Don’t have a hard and fast rule for this; basically it should be as long as necessary to include all the elements noted above. Still,don’t think you can do this well in less than 500 words at a minimum, and don’t think it needs to be more than 1500 words at a maximum (which doesn’t mean that you should try to hit the maximum, and add in unnecessary things to do so!).

Grading:

This is worth 100 points, based on your thorough completion of the components of the assignment as instructed. You must include everything required for full credit. The response in Week 7 is worth 50 points, a Discussion Grade.

Elonzo’s Department Stores is a chain of about 50 retail stores, specializing in kitchen, bath, and other household items, including many decorative and fashionable items.

Recently Elonzo’s decided to automate its gift registry to allow wedding and other event guests to be able to browse for items that were selected by the wedding couple or others.

Design a Web page that would allow customers to enter a zip code and find the nearest store.

Design a Web page for customers to browse gifts and order them online.

Do not include the actual ordering forms, simply the products. What sort of options should be available for customers? Include buttons or links to change the sort sequence in your design.

Design a printed list that customers could request when they go to one of the stores.
